Chick pea/ Chana / Kadala Masala RECIPE#217








 Step 1:-  Soak 1 1/2 cup of KADALA / CHICK PEA  for 8- 10 hours/ over night 

Step 2:- Microwave  / pressure cook the soaked KADALA  with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder salt and  1/2-1 cup of water for 12- 15 minutes . And keep aside.



Step 3:- Grind 2-3 table spoon of  step 2  kadala .And keep aside.



Step 4:-  Heat a pan . add a table spoon of vegetable oil .Add 2-3 cinnamon sticks , 2 cardamom . 5-6 cloves and  1 1/2  teaspoon of fennel seeds . 




Step 5:- Now add  onion  ( chopped  1-2 nos 4-6 garlic cloves   ( crushed ) , 3 inch of ginger root   ( crushed )  and  3-5  green chillies  ( splitted ) . Saute  until the onion becomes transparent .





 Now add  tomatoes ( 2 nos chopped) 


saute / cook  until the tomato pieces  becomes mushy .



allow to cool and  grind  into a smooth paste and keep aside .





Step 6:-  Heat a pan . add 2 table spoon of vegetable oil .Add 2- 3teaspoon of coriander powder ,  1 1/12 teaspoon of kashmiri chilli powder   and  1 1/2  teaspoon of  turmeric powder .




Step 7-  Add  step 3 & step 5 paste . combine well , 



and add a pinch of asafetida, a  teaspoon of fenugreek powder and 1 teaspoon of garam masala  ( http://jesacos5.blogspot.com/2013/11/biriyani-powder-garam-masala-powder.html )  , combine well , 



add the cooked step 2 KADALA / CHICK PEA. cook for another 12-15 minutes , 



 and  now add 1/2 cup of chopped cilantro



 and lemon juice (  from 1/2  of a  lemon ) .


Step 8 :- Chick pea/ Chana /  Kadala  Masala ready . Enjoy with  Dosa, Chapattis, fulkas  , tortillas ,  steamed rice ...........:) :) Enjoy .......:)  JA- Mathew-
