Kappa - Irachi Biriyani / Beef-Tapioca Biriyani RECIPE#97









Step 1:- Chop 3/4 kg/  1 1/2 lb of tapioca as in the picture .



 Step 2:- Microwave  the tapioca with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder and salt for 15 minutes  , mash  it . Keep aside.


Step 3: MAKE A 'PASTE' WITH GRATED COCONUT , GREEN CHILLI and CUMIN SEEDS   OR Mix cumin powder ( 1 1/2 teaspoon) ,green chilli paste (3 nos) with 1/2 cup of dried coconut powder And keep aside. 



Step 4:- Marinate 1/2 kg ( 1 lb) of beef with garlic 4-6 ( crushed ) , Ginger root ( 2 " crushed ) , 4-7 curry leaves ( chopped ) , 1 1/2 teaspoon of Turmeric powder, 2 teaspoon of kashmiri chilli powder,  1  1/2 teaspoon of Garam masala ,salt and 1 teaspoon of coriander powder for 4-6 hours.



 Step 5:- Heat 2 tablespoon of vegetable oil and splutter 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds and add 3/4 of chopped red onion  , and saute until it becomes light brown.


Step 6:- Add the marinated beef piecesMIX WELL.


Step 7:- Add 1-2 cup of water, cook for 25- 30 minutes until the beef is done .


Step 8:- Now add 1/2 of  a tomato (chopped ). Cook for another few minutes until the tomato is done 


Step 9:- Add the mashed tapioca ( STEP 2).


Step 10 :- Add  the coconut mixture ( STEP 3) .


Step 11:- Mix well with 1/4  cup of water , 1 1/2 teaspoon of pepper powder, few chopped curry leaves cook for 2-4 minutes at low medium flame . Until the water completely evaporates.


Step 12:- Kappa - Irachi Biriyani / Beef-Tapioca Biriyani  is ready.............. :) JA-Mathew-
