PRAWN / Chemmeen PICKLE  ( Indian /Kerala style )

Today I am so happy to ''introduce'' my 100th food recipe PRAWN PICKLE ( Authentic South Indian Style ). And I hope I can post more ' authentic recipes' soon.......Thank you -JA Mathew- ..........:) :) 





Step  1:- Marinate 250 -350 grams of prawn ( small sized or medium sized ) with salt, 1 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1 1/2 teaspoon of kashmiri chilli powder for 2- 6 hours.




 Step 2:- Make a  coarse paste with 9-15 garlic pieces and 5-7 medium sized ginger roots, and keep aside 



 Step 3:- ''Medium fry '' the marinated prawn in 1/2 - 1 cup of  coconut oil or  any vegetable oil and keep aside.


Step 4:- In the same oil ( Step 3 oil ) splutter 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds .


Step 5:- Add 3-4 chopped  ( Chop green chilli in a  rounded shape) green chillies, and few curry leaves.

 Step 6:- Add the ginger - garlic paste ( Step 2) .


 Step 7:- Mix well and saute for few minutes.


 Step 8:- Until it (  the paste ) gets light brown in color.


 Step 9:- Now bring down the flame and add 1 1/2 teaspoon of  kashmiri chiili powder , 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder, a pinch of asafetida , and a pinch of fenugreek powder.


 Step 10 :- Add 1/4 -1/2 cup of vinegar  and mix well.


 Step 11:- Add the fried prawn  ( step 3) , and cook at low medium flame until the oil separates from the ''masala ''  as in the picture.


  Step 12 :- Prawn pickle is ready .......: -)  :-)  Enjoy as a side dish for steamed rice ..... Store    in an airtight container , in refrigerator..... Enjoy ...-JA- Mathew-  :)
