Kanji , Green gram stir fry( cheru payar/ Moong bean thoran ) and thenga chamanthi !!! RECIPE#83


I:-Green gram stir fry( cheru payar/ Moong bean thoran )

II:-Thenga chamanthi 







I:- Green gram stir fry( cheru payar thoran ) 





Step 1:-  Soak 1 cup of  GREEN GRAM / CHERUPAYAR  for 2-6 hours 



Step 2:- Microwave the soaked GREEN GRAM / CHERUPAYAR with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder , salt and  1/2-1 cup of water for 15-20  minutes . And keep aside.


Step 3:-  Coarse  grind 5-6 pearl onions, 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds, 2-3 green chillies, 4-5 garlic pieces , 2'' ginger root, 10- 12 black pepper , 1 cup of grated coconut and keep aside.



Step 4:-  Heat a pan , add the microwaved green gram ( from step 3).



Step 5:-  Add the  step 4 paste , mix well with 1/4-1 cup of water. 


Step 6:-  Add  1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder and 1/4 teaspoon of kasmiri chilli powder.  Mix well.


Step 7:-  Add  few curry leaves and cook for 20 - 25 minutes on  medium flame .


Step 8:-  For tempering , heat 2 teaspoon of  vegetable oil in a pan , splutter 2 teaspoon of mustard seeds, and add 4-5 dried red  chillies 


 Step 9 :- Pour over the  cooked green gram   ( Step 8  pan ). And mix well , and cook for another 5 minutes.



Step 10:- Green gram stir fry( cheru payar thoran )  is ready ......:)









II:- Thenga chamanthi !!!




Step 1:-  Ingredients :- 1 cup of  grated coconut , 3-4 dried red chillies, 3-5 pearl onions , few curry leaves, 2 '' ginger root and tamarind ( small lemon size) 



Step 2:-  Heat 1 table spoon of vegetable  oil in a pan .
  

Step 3:- Add Dried red chillies,  chopped pearl onions , curry leaves and chopped  2 '' ginger root.  And saute for few minutes .


Step 4:- Add the grated coconut( From step 1) . Saute for few more minutes. DO NOT BROWN IT .


Step 5:-  Grind ''Step 4'' to a smooth paste  with tamarind ( From  step 1) ,  1 table spoon of water and salt .



Step 7:-   Thenga chamanthi is ready .............:)   Serve with KANJI !!!!!
