Moong Dal/ green gram/cheru payar CURRY







Step 1:-  Soak 1 cup of  GREEN GRAM / CHERUPAYAR  for 2-6 hours 



Step 2:-  Coarse  grind the soaked green gram as in the picture.




Step 3:- Microwave the coarse grind-ed GREEN GRAM / CHERUPAYAR with 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder , salt and  1/2-1 cup of water for 20-25  minutes . And keep aside.


Step 4:-  Make a smooth paste with  5-6 pearl onions, 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds, 3-4 green chilies, 3-4 garlic pieces , 2'' ginger root, 10- 12 black pepper and 2 table spoon of finely chopped onion  and keep aside.



Step 5:-  Heat a pan , add 2 teaspoon of vegetable oil and splutter 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds . And add 2-3 dried red chillies , 1  teaspoon of turmeric powder, and 1 teaspoon of Kashmiri chilli powder .



Step 6:-  Add  a chopped tomato 


Step 7:- Saute until the tomato becomes mushy.


Step 8:-  Add the  step 4 paste .


Step 9:- Mix well , and saute for few minutes.


Step 10:-  Add the Microwaved  the coarse grind-ed GREEN GRAM / CHERUPAYAR.


Step 11:-    Mix well with 1/2 - 1 cup of water. And cook for another 20 - 30 minutes on low medium flame .



Step 12:-  Add  2 table spoon of  COCONUT POWDER, mix well and cook for another 3-8 minutes on  medium flame . ADD MORE WATER IF NEEDED!!



Step 13:- Green gram Currry( cheru payar Curry )  is ready ......:)  Serve with tortillas, chapatis, fulkas,steamed rice ........................:) :)  












CHUKKU KAAPPY / DRIED GINGER COFEE ( authentic Kerala Style ) RECIPE#87


 1:- How to make chukku kaappy.

2:- How to make Chukku powder.

3:- How to make dried ginger.


1:-CHUKKU KAAPPY 




 Step 1:- Boil 1 cup of water , add 1-3 table spoon of jaggery.


Step 2:- Add 1 teaspoon of Chukku powder , boil for 2-3 minutes 


 Step 3:- Add 1 teaspoon of coffee powder  and boil for another  3-5 minutes.


                                                     Step 4:-   Strain the coffee .



 Step 5:- Serve hot......................:) 



2:-Chukku powder




 Step 1:- Make a fine powder with  1/4- 1/2 cup of dried ginger,  1 table spoon of coriander seeds, 20-35 black pepper, 1 1/2 teaspoon of cumin seeds and 1 1/2 teaspoon of   rock candy (Kalkandu )



                                          Step 2:-   Store in  a air tight container.



3:- DREIED GINGER 

   Step 1:-   Peel off the ginger skin. Slice them like, as the picture.


Step 2:- Place on a cookie sheet ,  bake for 10-15 minutes  at 350 F, until it is  ''dehydrated ''.


Step 3:-  Then remove  from the oven ,  arrange them on a cooling rack and place back in the  oven  for another 45- minutes - 1 hour.


Step 4:- Until the ginger pieces are dry and crispy. ...Dried ginger is ready!!!!!

JESS STYLE SPECIAL ''TOMATO FISH FRY '' RECIPE#86






Step 1:- Make  a  smooth  paste with   2- 4  garlic pieces  ,2 " of ginger root,  1  table spoon of lemon juice , 2 pearl onions , 20- 25 black pepper  and 3/4  of a large tomato.



 Step 2:- Mix  the paste ( Step 1 )  with 2 teaspoon of turmeric powder  ,  1/2 teaspoon of  kashmiri chilli powder and salt .


Step 3:-  Slice 2 lb of fish ( Swai Fillet or Tilapia Fillet  ) into ''diagonal  pieces'' as in the picture  and marinate with Step 2 paste fofor 5-7 hours.




Step 4:- Heat  a pan ( NON STICK )  .  Add 1 teaspoon of oil . 



 Step 5:- And ''Fry'' the marinated fish pieces until  it gets '' brown'' on both sides. Drain  the extra oil on a paper towel  .




Step 6:-  " JESS STYLE " SPECIAL  TOMATO FISH FRY   is ready .....:) Enjoy  with   steamed rice :)............JA-Mathew - :)

Radish - Carrot stir fry RECIPE#85

Radish - Carrot stir fry





Step 1:-   Wash and slice 20- 25 radish and 3-7 carrots 






Step 2:-  Add  1/2 - 3/4  sliced onion, 1-2 sliced garlic pieces ,1 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 1/2 teaspoon of kashmiri chilli powder, 1 /2 - 1 teaspoon of pepper powder and salt 


Step 3:-  Add 2 -3 spitted green chillies  , 4- 9 curry leaves, mix everything well  with 1/4 - 1/2 cup of water and cook for 15- 20 minutes at medium flame .


Step 4:-  And keep aside :) 



Step 5:-  Heat 2 table spoon of  virgin coconut oil and splutter 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds and add 2-3  dried red chillies.



Step 6:-  Now add the Cooked carrot- radish ( step 4) and saute until the carrot- radish pieces  are  dry and roasted .


Step 7:- Radish - Carrot stir fry  is ready
........:)  Serve as a side dish for steamed rice .....:)
