Nadan Kozhi Curry ( Kottayam Style ) RECIPE#136










 Step 1:-  Cut  2 1/2  lb / 1 1/2 kg  of Nadan Kozhi  into  small  pieces and keep aside.


 STEP  2:- Heat   a wide pan , and add 2-4 table spoon of  virgin coconut oil , and add  2 teaspoon  of turmeric powder1 1/2  teaspoon of kashmiri chilli powder, and 3-4   teaspoon of coriander powder in low flame /heat  for 2- 3 seconds , until the  raw smell  of powder goes away .





Step 3:-  Marinate the  chicken pieces ( step 1)  with (Step 2 ''Paste '' ) for 3-4 hours.


  Step 4:-   Splutter 2 teaspoon of mustard seeds and 1 teaspoon of fenugreek seeds  in  virgin coconut oil  .




Step 5:-  Add  5-8 sliced garlic cloves and 3''  of sliced ginger root , Saute for few minutes 


Step 6:-  Add 7-12 chopped pearl onions ,  saute for few minutes .


   Step 7:-  Add  2 sliced onion  and 2 sprigs of curry leaves  , saute until the onion becomes brown in color .





   Step 8:-   Add the  marinated chicken pieces   (  Step 3) and  combine well .




  Step 9:-   Add 2 teaspoon of garam masala powder (  Powder from roasted  -cardamom, cloves, cinnamon sticks , bay leaves ,  black pepper, javithri- )



 Step 10:-   Add  a chopped tomato and 2 - 2 1/2 cup of water  .


 Step 11:-    Cook for 20-30 minutes on medium - high flame ,  and  now sprinkle 1  teaspoon of pepper powder , and  cook for, until the chicken pieces are  well done .


Step 11:-   Nadan Kozhi Curry is ready........enjoy with steamed rice / chapattis/ tortillas/ fulkas...........:) JA- Mathew
